Pu Xinyu and Zhang Daqian: A Special Exhibition in Memory of Their First Encounter 100 Years Ago

Marking the centenary of the first meeting between Pu Xinyu (1896-1963) and Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) in Beijing in 1926, the exhibition explores the friendship, creative practices, and artistic pursuit of the two influential Chinese painters.

Divided into five sections — "The Art of Pu Xinyu", "The Art of Zhang Daqian", "North-South Connections", "Southern Zhang and Northern Pu", and "The Artistic Network of 'Southern Zhang and Northern Pu'" — the exhibition reconstructs a period of artistic exchange and coexistence reflected in the celebrated pairing and offers a window into the changing landscape and diverse artistic ecology of modern Chinese painting.
