Updated: Aug 20, 2026

Prince Kung's Palace Museum and The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street have jointly launched "Fú·Blossom" (Fuyun Fanghua), a co-branded afternoon tea set inspired by the poetic landscapes and auspicious symbolism of Prince Kung's Palace.

Centered on the palace's distinctive fu (福, blessings) culture, the afternoon tea set brings together traditional Beijing flavors and contemporary culinary techniques. Eight delicacies are presented on an array of Chinese-style wooden serving ware, with each dish drawing on the architecture, gardens, decorative arts, and auspicious motifs of the palace.

The four sweet delicacies include a black sesame mousse with sweet pea pudding, inspired by the palace's renowned fu character calligraphy attributed to Emperor Kangxi (r.1662-1722); a toufu and red bean cheesecake drawing on the palace's springtime crabapple blossoms; while a date paste and fig cake evoking the bamboo and rock scenery in front of the Hall of Blessings in the palace garden. A Beijing yogurt, lychee and hawthorn cake takes the form of blossoming peonies.

The four savory delicacies include a pearl and scallop pastry filled with chopped vegetables, inspired by the mother-of-pearl inlay on furniture in the palace's Xijin Studio; a sea salt ox-tongue pastry with curd milk mousse, drawing on the garden scenery of Verdant Rock; and smoked salmon sashimi in a crispy boat-shaped cup, inspired by the Rectangular Pond and Pavilion, with the golden cup resembling a small boat floating on the water. The set also offers a refined interpretation of Qianlong Cabbage, a traditional Beijing-style cold dish, bringing long-lasting blessings and good fortune.

Other choices comprise cranberry scones with orange jam and cream, served on a gourd-shaped wooden tray, as well as tea or coffee with foam art featuring the Chinese fu character.

More than an afternoon tea, the set offers a contemporary taste of the palace's cultural heritage — where traditional craftsmanship, palace aesthetics, and the enduring Chinese pursuit of happiness and good fortune meet at the table.
