Cymbal-like door knocker

The door knocker (men bo) derives its name from its resemblance to a cymbal, a traditional Chinese percussion instrument. Crafted from iron or copper, door knockers symmetrically adorn the left and right door panels.

Often featuring circular, hexagonal, or octagonal borders, the door knocker has a raised spherical center with a ring-shaped knob, from which a flat leaf-shaped accessory hangs. The leaf-shaped accessory is a grip used for knocking on or closing doors, realizing both practical and aesthetic effects.
