Wind-blocking board and plum blossom nails

The wind-blocking board (bofeng ban), also known as the sealing board, is a zigzag-shaped protective board mounted onto the end of the purlins extending towards the gable surface of suspended or hipped roofs.

Plum blossom nails (meihua ding) are iron nails arranged in a hexagonal pattern used to nail the wind-blocking board onto the end of the purlins.

The wind-blocking board and plum blossom nails serve the purpose of protecting the end of the purlins and preventing the wooden components from weathering. Additionally, they also have a certain decorative effect.
