Prince Kung's Palace Museum, in partnership with premium Chinese fragrance brand DOCUMENTS, unveiled the Crabapple (福棠) Home Fragrance Collection on March 27. The launch event, held at the Anshan Hall, a gallery dedicated to traditional lifestyle aesthetics, offered a unique sensory experience.
Inspired by the museum's iconic "Fu" (blessing) culture and elegant midget crabapples, the collection blends traditional Chinese aesthetics with contemporary design, using scent as a timeless medium to evoke the refined elegance of a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) princely residence and spread it to the world.
Crafted by master perfumer Maxime Exler, who has lived in China for years, the fragrance reproduces the rich aroma of the midget crabapples. Starting with crisp green notes of crabapple leaves, it extends to heart notes where cyclamen, fig and cedarwood intertwine in a graceful harmony. The base notes, highlighting woody aroma of guaiac wood and saffron, capture the serene sophistication of the mansion. Such arrangement echoes the historical evolution of Prince Kung's Palace – from opulence to quiet dignity.
The collection's visual design features signature green hue, which draws from the mansion's glazed tiles. The embossed golden bat motifs reflect the auspicious symbols found across the mansion's lattice windows and decorative paintings, bringing blessings to every home.
From fabric spray that infuses home textiles and clothing with a lingering scent, portable sachet for personal wear, desks or cars to flameless reed diffuser that effortlessly fills any space with its refined aroma, the Crabapple collection provides a modern interpretation of traditional Chinese lifestyle, seamlessly integrating heritage into daily life. Whether at home or on the go, the delicate scent of the midget crabapples and the auspicious symbolism of blessings continue to unfold with every breath.
The Crabapple collection is available at Prince Kung's Palace Museum, DOCUMENTS' 10 designated offline stores nationwide and its official mini-program.
