Chinese New Year cultural events held in New York

From Jan 23 to Feb 2, Prince Kung's Palace Museum, in collaboration with the Consulate General of China in New York, hosted the "Fortune's Arrival" Chinese New Year cultural events in the US city.

Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations and Miguel Ángel Moratinos, high representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, attend the event at the UN Headquarters.

The series of events took place at the Consulate General of China in New York, the United Nations Headquarters, the New Jersey Symphony, Lincoln Center and China Institute in America. More than 10,000 attendees, including government officials, diplomats, overseas Chinese and local families, experienced the cultural legacy of Prince Kung's Palace Museum, a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) princely residence known as the "Garden of a Myriad of Blessings".

Themed on the museum's history and "Fu" (blessing) culture, the events showcased the depth and charm of Chinese New Year traditions, bringing Spring Festival blessings to people across the Pacific.

Highlights included lion dance performances, folk music and immersive cultural workshops, such as "Fu" character rubbings, shadow puppet crafting, lacquer fan making, mortise-and-tenon assembling and dismantling, Peking Opera mask painting, knot weaving, sachet making and papercutting. Exquisite attire displays and interactive installations enriched the artistic appeal of the events.
