Moon Appreciation Terrace

To the north of Anshan Hall lies the Verdant Rock, a magnificent rockery constructed entirely of Taihu lake stones. Two serpentine paths wind their way up to the summit, where large water jars nourish the growth of vibrant green moss on the warm stones during the summer and autumn months. Hence the name "Verdant Rock". Below, a rectangular pond features three rock formations representing the legendary islands of Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou. As the highest point in the garden, the Verdant Rock culminates in the Green Sky Retreat, while the Moon Appreciation Terrace offers a serene space for moonlit contemplation.
