Prince Kung's Palace Museum, a national first-class museum built on the historical site of Prince Kung's Palace, is dedicated to the research, preservation, and promotion of princely residence culture from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
The museum prioritizes security and collection safety, academic development, digital technology application, and public education, assuming the following core responsibilities: preserving the palace complex – comprising its residence, garden, and auxiliary structures; collecting, researching, and exhibiting artifacts and documents related to Qing Dynasty princely residences; fostering cultural exchanges; carrying out programs to present intangible cultural heritage related to the palace; and facilitating public education on the essence of traditional Chinese culture. The museum, a well known heritage site in Beijing, provides considerate tourist services. At the same time, it develops cultural and creative programs to enhance the integration of culture and tourism.
Designated as China's foremost protected cultural heritage site in 1982, Prince Kung's Palace Museum was upgraded to a national 5A (top-level) tourist attraction in 2012 and was rated as a national first-class museum in 2017.
