The horizontal lattice panel (mei zi) is an oranate component placed between the columns of buildings with porches or galleries. It consists of a frame and mullions, primarily serving a decorative purpose. The lattice panels are classified into "hanging" and "bench" types. The "hanging" type is installed under the eaves, with intricate carved elements attached to both ends. The "bench" type, situated closer to the ground, can be equipped with a bench plank, providing a place to rest.
