A partition board (ge shan) often refers to a partition door. "Ge" indicates separation, while "shan" refers to an opening and closing action resembling a folding fan. Originating from lattice doors, this ancient design is traditionally positioned between golden pillars or eave columns as an external partition, extending from the doorstep up to just below the transom window. The partition door consists of outer frames, lattices, ornamental panels, and connecting strips, typically comprising four, six, or eight sections.
