In traditional Chinese architecture, interior pillars (jin zhu) provide structural connection and support. Positioned inside the line of eave columns but off the building's central axis, they vary in number according to scale. Smaller buildings typically have only a single row at the front and rear, or none at all, while larger structures may contain one or two rows depending on their depth.
