Finial of the pyramidal roof

Updated: Apr 11, 2024

宝顶 副本.png

The finial of a four- or five-sided pyramidal roof consists of a pedestal and a top. Sometimes it stands independently, resembling a sumeru pedestal, without a top. The top typically takes the form of a sphere, with square, hexagon and octagon sections as common variations. The cross-section of the finial aligns with that of the overhanging roof. Fancy motifs are often carved onto the finial.
