Prince Kung's Palace Museum Fashion Show lights up Paris

On the evening of Sept 27, the Culture Center of China in Paris (Centre Culturel de Chine à Paris) witnessed the grand kickoff of the Prince Kung's Palace Museum Fashion Show. This spectacular event marked the opening of the 2023 Sino-French Fashion Week at the Culture Center of China in Paris.

It featured a collection of haute couture fashion designed by the internationally renowned fashion designer Laurence Xu, who took inspirations from the rich cultural legacy in Prince Kung's Palace, including its classic garden, the architectural structures, the emperor's calligraphy and the decorative paintings on architectural components.

With a distinctive Western-style cut, the dresses are crafted using intricate Nanjing cloud brocade (Yunjin) fabric, highlighting the craftsmanship of Miao and Suzhou embroideries. This amalgamation of design elements spotlights the exquisite craftsmanship of traditional Chinese artistry, allowing the world to witness refined traditional Chinese style.

Liu Hongge, director of the Culture Center of China in Paris, delivers a speech. 

More than 350 guests attended the event, including Rao Quan, deputy minister of Culture and Tourism; Qu Xing, deputy director-general of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization); Chen Li, Minister Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in France; Christian Mantei, director of the French Tourism Development Agency; as well as government officers of Paris, and representatives from various domestic and international institutions.
