Palace History and Culture Research Committee established

Updated: Jan 15, 2022

The Palace History and Culture Research Committee, a second-level academic institution of the Forbidden City Society, a leading academic society affiliated with the Prince Kung's Palace Museum, was recently established.

The establishment of the committee was initiated and led by the Prince Kung's Palace Museum, which is a national first-class museum established on the basis of the 240-year-old well-preserved Prince Kung's Palace. The museum is dedicated to becoming a safe, academic, and digital museum for the public, and also promotes research into the princely palaces' history and culture in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

To unite research in China and abroad, promote academic exchanges, and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, in 2021, the Prince Kung's Palace Museum submitted an application to the Forbidden City Society for the establishment of the Palace History and Culture Research Committee, which was approved.

The committee will focus its research and work on seminars and exchanges, academic research, project research, business training, book editing, professional exhibitions, international cooperation, and consulting services.

It will also serve as a platform for individual and group members, and hold various palace historical and cultural activities.
