Object Detail:
The whole chair is made from Huanghuali wood. Its outline is simple, flowing and graceful. With both wonderful form and spirit, it can be said a typical piece of Ming dynasty furniture. It used to be collected by the German scholar Gustav Ecke and was included in his book Chinese Domestic Furniture in Photographs and Measured Drawings published in 1944. In 2006, the chair was donated to Prince Kung’s Palace Museum by his wife Zeng Youhe (known as Betty Ecke).
