Dihua Pavilion

Dihua Pavilion

Dihua Pavilion is located to the west of the Bat Pond, the name of which originated from the plaque “Dihua Pavilion” inscribed by Emperor Xianfeng that hangs here. When they were young, Emperor Xianfeng (Yizhu) and his brother Prince Kung (Yixin) developed a set of methods to use the spear and the knife as weapons. Their father, Emperor Daoguang named this set of spear methods “Dihua Xieli” (meaning “concerted efforts”) and the knife methods “Bao’e Xuanwei” (meaning “showing strength and power”). He hoped the two brothers could jointly support the development of the Qing Empire.
