Mei Lanfang (1894-1961) was a distinguished Peking and Kunqu Opera artist in 20th-century China. In honor of the 130th anniversary of his birth, Prince Kung's Palace Museum, in collaboration with the Mei Lanfang Memorial, presents this special exhibition highlighting the artistry of hand gestures in Mei's performances.
The exhibition features photographs of Mei Lanfang's hand gestures, along with historical artifacts, documents and contemporary artworks that reinterpret his expression moments, revealing the emotional depth and artistic beauty of Mei's performances. It captures the essence of Peking Opera and celebrates the richness of Chinese culture.
